July 14                     Kasich announces he is ending his presidential quest and will not seek re-election to Congress in 2000.  Texas Gov. George W. Bush joins Kasich in a Washington press conference and receives the congressman's endorsement.
 
July 3                        July 2 schedule scratched; held up by congressional business arrived very late.  July 3 Shoeless Joe Jackson National Baseball Tournament "FanFest '99" and parade; Field of Dreams baseball game with Bob Feller and others in Dyersville.
 
June 11-13                 June 11 Catholic Health Association's presidential pledge signing at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines; address to Pachyderm Club at the VFW in Marshalltown; coffee at Park Center in Newton.  June 12 Coffee at the Pella Opera Company in Pella; addresses World Pork Expo in Des Moines; Main Street walk in Traer; reception with the Benton County Republican Committee in Vinton.  June 13 "Iowa Burger Bake" for the travelling press corps at Joensy's Diner in Solon.  [Ground rules: 1. All discussion is on-the-record.  2. All burgers will be well done.  3. American cheese only--none of those foreign cheeses.  4. Plain buns--no  sesame seeds.  5. No fancy mustard--just the yellow stuff.  6. Standard fries only--nothing 'curly' or 'julienne.'  7. No drawn butter]. Coffee at the Hefron family's home in Mt. September 3-4            Sept. 3 In Mason City, Kasich addresses students of North Iowa Area Community College, serves as the special guest speaker at the Cerro Gordo County Republican Party Headquarters ribbon cutting ceremony, and attends a reception/fundraiser for the Cerro Gordo County Republican Party at a private home.  Sept. 4 Breakfast event hosted by State Senator Neal Schuerer and State Rep. Phil Tyrrell at The Barn Restaurant in Amana; luncheon fundraiser for 2nd District Congressman Jim Nussle in Independence; addresses students of Cornell College in Mt. Vernon with Sec. of State candidate John Gilliland.

June 12-13                Cedar Rapids - Republican Party of Iowa's First in the Nation Gala and State Convention.
 
May 14-15                 Arrived late Thursday.  May 15 Spoke to the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa 92nd annual convention in West Des Moines; in the afternoon at the MCI facility in Cedar Rapids for about two hours--a town hall meeting involving several MCI facilities with videoconferencing, and a tour of the facility.
 
April 4-8                    "Back in Black" tour during the congressional recess.  (The Iowa state budget has been in a surplus--in the black--since Republicans took over in 1992 and the federal budget will be soon.)  April 4 speaks at reception before the Abe Lincoln Dinner-A Tribute to Gov. Terry Branstad in Des Moines.  April 5 Fundraiser for state rep. Dave Millage in Davenport.  April 6  Cedar Rapids: news conference at Cedar Rapids Public Library.  Waterloo, radio, evening fundraiser for MikeLannigan, challenger for the state senate seat in Waterloo.  April 7  Des Moines: press conference at the State Capitol Building, appearance on WHO.  Ankeny: fundraiser for Carmen Boal, challenger for state rep. seat.  To Omaha/Council Bluffs, big fundraiser for House majority leader Brent Seigrist in Council Bluffs and news conference.  On KKAR -AM.  To Sioux City.  April 8  On KSCJ-AM.  News conference at the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.  To Dennison, a  fundraiser for Clarence Hoffman, running for state rep.  To Carroll, fundraiser Rod Roberts, state rep candidate.

Also according to news reports, fundraiser for Rep. Jim Nussle on Oct. 15 and campaigned for Iowa House Speaker Ron Corbett in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 16Oct. 17 event for state rep. Mona Martin at the Outing Club in Davenport.
