"New Hampshire Voter Town Meeting"
Thursday Oct. 21, 1999 at WNDS studios in Derry, NH.  8:00-9:00 p.m. (EST).
Back
Sponsored by: WNDS and New Hampshire Citizens for a Sound Economy.

Candidates: Gary Bauer, Alan Keyes.

Panelists: Jack Heath and Jennifer Donahue of WNDS, John DiStaso of the Manchester Union-Leader, Howard Mortman of National Journal's "Hotline" and Arnie Arnesen of WSMN Radio.

Audience of about 20 people selected by area chamber of commerce.

Format: Three segments.  Bauer and Keyes (and Hatch by satellite) took questions from the audience for about 25 minutes in the first segment; Reform Party chair Russell Verney and 1996 GOP presidential candidate Morry Taylor fielded questions in the second part, and former Sen. Gordon Humphrey discussed state issues in the third.

Notes and Media Coverage
This was the first forum involving the 2000 Republican candidates, but it did not garner much media attention as it only drew two candidates.  Sen. Hatch had planned to attend but cancelled shortly before the event due to business in Washington.
