Gov. Thompson and wife Sue Ann put in a Washington, DC appearance
at a Wisconsin tailgate party during the Smithsonian Folklife Festival
on the Mall in Washington. He had also been in the capital less than two
weeks earlier, participating in a Harley ride from Madison to DC. Thompson
and two of his predecessors chair the Wisconsin Sesquicentennial Commission,
which has organized more than a thousand events to celebrate the 150th
anniversary of Wisconsin becoming a state.
