Oct. 18, 1997. Pat Choate, the Reform Party's
1996 vice presidential nominee, speaks at the DC Reform Party Convention
in the lead-up to the party's national convention. Choate said that a
third party would emerge, despite previous failures. He suggested the
Reform Party should employ "leverage politics," targeting the 50 weakest
Republicans in '98 congressional races About 30 people attended the
gathering at Luther Place Memorial Church on Vermont
Avenue.
